Adding Your First Item

Create your first inventory item with photos, details, and pricing

Everything in Evriwhere starts with your inventory. Before you can list anything on Depop, eBay, or Vinted, you need to add the item to your Evriwhere inventory first. This guide walks you through every step of the Add Item screen so you can create your first item with confidence.

Opening the Add Item Screen

To add a new item, you need to be on the Items tab — the main inventory screen in Evriwhere.

1

Navigate to the Items tab

Tap the Items tab at the bottom of the screen. This is your inventory — it shows all the items you've added to Evriwhere, whether they've been listed on marketplaces or not. If this is your first time using the app, the screen will be empty with a prompt to add your first item.

2

Tap the + button

In the bottom-right corner of the Items tab, you'll see a floating + (plus) button. This is the main action button for creating new items. Tap it to open the Add Item screen.

3

Check your plan limits

If you've reached the item limit on your current plan, you won't see the Add Item screen. Instead, the app will display a plan upgrade screen explaining that you've hit the limit. The Starter and Reseller plans allow up to 75 items in your inventory. The Business plan offers unlimited items. Tap Upgrade to view plan options, or remove some existing items to free up space.

Item limits by plan

  • Starter plan: Up to 75 items
  • Reseller plan: Up to 75 items
  • Business plan: Unlimited items

If you're approaching your limit, consider archiving sold items or deleting items you no longer need.

The Add Item Form

The Add Item screen is a scrollable form with several sections. Each section captures a different piece of information about your item. Some fields are required before you can save, while others are optional but recommended for creating better listings later.

Here's a complete walkthrough of every field on the form, from top to bottom.

Photos

The photo section sits at the very top of the Add Item form. This is the most important part of your item — great photos make your listings stand out.

1

Tap Upload Photos

At the top of the form, you'll see a large photo area with an Upload Photos button. Tap it to open your device's photo library and select existing photos. Below the button, there's also a Take pictures text link that opens Evriwhere's built-in camera so you can photograph your item right now. See our Taking & Editing Product Photos guide for details on using the camera.

2

Add at least 3 photos

Evriwhere requires a minimum of 3 photos for every item. You can add up to 16 photos per item. However, if you have a Depop account connected, the maximum is reduced to 9 photos because Depop enforces an 8-image limit on listings. The extra slot gives you flexibility when choosing which photos to use per platform.

3

Reorder your photos

Once you've added photos, they appear as thumbnails in a horizontal strip. The first photo becomes the cover image — this is what buyers see first in search results. To reorder, press and hold a thumbnail, then drag it to a new position. Put your best, most eye-catching photo first.

Photo quality matters

Marketplace algorithms favour listings with clear, well-lit photos. Use natural lighting when possible, and make sure the item fills most of the frame. Evriwhere also offers built-in background removal to give your photos a clean, professional look.

Item Name

Below the photos, you'll find the Item Name field. This is a required field — every item needs a name.

  • Tap the text field and type a descriptive name for your item. A good name includes the brand, item type, key details (colour, size, style), and condition if relevant. For example: "Nike Air Force 1 '07 White Trainers Size UK 9".
  • The field has an 80 character limit.
  • As you type, Evriwhere analyses your text in real time and may auto-detect values for several fields below — including category type, gender, condition, colour, size, and brand. These suggestions appear automatically, saving you time on data entry.

Item Type

The Item Type field is required. Choose one of three options:

  • Clothing — For all garments (tops, trousers, dresses, jackets, etc.)
  • Footwear — For shoes, trainers, boots, sandals, etc.
  • Other — For accessories, bags, homeware, electronics, books, and anything else

Your selection determines which categories and size options are available later. If Evriwhere detected the type from your item name, it will be pre-selected.

Gender

The Gender field appears for Clothing and Footwear items (it is hidden when you select "Other"). Choose one of four options:

  • Male
  • Female
  • Kids
  • Unisex

If Evriwhere detected the gender from your item name, it will be pre-selected.

Condition

The Condition field is required. Select the option that best describes your item's current state:

  • New with tags — Brand new, unused, with the original tags still attached.
  • New no tags — Brand new and unused, but the original tags have been removed.
  • Like New — Barely used with no visible signs of wear.
  • Good — Used but still in solid condition. May have minor signs of wear.
  • Used — Noticeably used with visible signs of wear, but still functional.
  • Poor — Heavily used with significant signs of wear, damage, or flaws.

If Evriwhere detected the condition from your item name, it will be pre-selected.

Be honest about condition

Accurately describing your item's condition builds trust with buyers and reduces the chance of returns or disputes. If your item has specific flaws (stains, tears, scuffs), mention them in the description as well.

Details section

The Category, Brand, Colour, and Size fields only appear once you've selected an item type, condition, and gender (where applicable). Fill in these fields first to unlock the full details section below.

Description

The Description field is optional when adding an item to your inventory. You can leave it blank and write descriptions later when you create listings — Evriwhere's AI description generator can write platform-optimised descriptions for you at that stage.

If you do want to add a description now, tap the text field and type your description. Include details about the item's material, fit, measurements, flaws (if any), and any other information a buyer would want to know. This description serves as a template that gets carried over when you create listings.

Descriptions are optional at this stage

Many sellers prefer to skip the description when adding items and let the AI generate platform-specific descriptions when creating listings. The AI uses your item's name, category, brand, condition, and other details to write compelling descriptions tailored to each marketplace. See our Using AI-Generated Descriptions guide to learn more.

Category

The Category field helps buyers find your item in searches. Tap it to open the category picker — a full-screen view with a hierarchical list of categories.

  • At the top of the category picker, there's a search bar. Type to filter categories instantly. For example, typing "trainers" will narrow the list to show relevant footwear categories.
  • If Evriwhere detected a likely category from your item name, you'll see suggested categories at the top of the list, highlighted for quick selection.
  • Categories are organised hierarchically. For example: Clothing > Tops > T-shirts. Tap a top-level category to expand it, then tap a subcategory, and continue until you reach the most specific category that matches your item.
  • Once you select a final category, the picker closes and your selection appears on the Add Item form. You can tap the field again to change it at any time.

Can't find your category?

If you can't find a category that matches your item, scroll to the bottom of the category picker and tap Request Missing Category. This sends a request to the Evriwhere team to add the category in a future update.

Brand

The Brand field is optional but highly recommended. Branded items sell faster and for higher prices on every marketplace.

  • Tap the field to open the brand picker. You'll see a search bar at the top and a scrollable list of brands below.
  • Type to search — as you enter letters, the list filters in real time to show matching brands.
  • If Evriwhere detected a brand name in your item name, it will appear as a suggestion at the top of the list.
  • If your brand isn't in the list, you can enter a custom brand name by typing it into the search field and tapping the option to use it as a custom brand.
  • Tap a brand to select it and return to the Add Item form.

Size

The Size field is optional but important for clothing and footwear.

  • Tap the field to open the size picker. The size grid that appears is dynamic — it changes based on the category you selected. Clothing categories show standard clothing sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL, etc.), footwear categories show shoe sizes, and children's categories show age-based sizes.
  • Sizes are displayed in a grid layout for easy selection. Tap the size that matches your item.
  • If your item doesn't have a standard size (for example, accessories or homeware), you can skip this field.

Colour

The Colour field is optional. You can select up to 3 colours that describe your item.

  • Tap the field to open the colour picker. Colours are displayed in a 3-column grid with visual swatches next to each colour name, making it easy to identify the right colours at a glance.
  • Tap a colour to select it. Selected colours show a checkmark. Tap again to deselect.
  • Once you've selected up to 3 colours, tap Done to return to the Add Item form.
  • If Evriwhere detected colours from your item name, those colours will be pre-highlighted as suggestions.

Price

The Price field is required. Enter the amount you want to list the item for, in GBP (£). This becomes the default listing price when you create listings on Depop, eBay, and Vinted — though you can adjust the price per platform at that stage if you want to price differently on each marketplace.

  • Tap the field and enter a number using the numeric keypad.
  • You can enter whole numbers or include pence (for example, "25" or "24.99").
  • There's no minimum or maximum enforced by Evriwhere itself, but each marketplace has its own minimum listing price.

Purchase Price

The Purchase Price field is optional. Enter what you originally paid for the item — this is used for profit tracking in Evriwhere's analytics.

  • If you enter a purchase price, Evriwhere can calculate your profit margin when the item sells.
  • This information is private and never shown to buyers on any marketplace.
  • If you don't track what you pay for items, you can leave this field blank.

Quantity

The Quantity field defaults to 1. If you have multiple identical items (same size, colour, condition), you can increase the quantity.

  • Tap the + button to increase or the - button to decrease the quantity.
  • When you list an item with a quantity greater than 1, marketplaces that support multi-quantity listings will reflect this. On platforms that don't support multi-quantity (like Depop), Evriwhere handles this by creating individual listings as needed.

Saving Your Item

Once you've filled in the required fields (photos, item name, item type, condition, and price), the Add Item button at the bottom of the screen becomes active.

1

Review your item details

Scroll through the form one more time to make sure everything looks correct. Check that your photos are in the right order, your item name is descriptive, and your price is what you intended.

2

Tap Add Item

Tap the Add Item button at the bottom of the screen. Evriwhere will save your item to your inventory. You'll be taken back to the Items tab, where your new item now appears in the list.

3

Confirm the item was saved

Your new item should appear at the top of your Items tab with its cover photo, name, and price visible. Tap it to view the full item details and verify everything saved correctly.

Auto-save and drafts

If you leave the Add Item screen without tapping Add Item — for example, if you switch to another app or your phone locks — Evriwhere automatically saves your progress as a draft. When you return to the Add Item screen, your draft will be restored so you can pick up where you left off.

Editing an Existing Item

After saving an item, you can edit it at any time:

  1. Go to the Items tab.
  2. Tap the item you want to edit.
  3. Tap the Edit button to open the item in edit mode.
  4. Make your changes — you can update any field, add or remove photos, change the price, or modify any other detail.
  5. Tap Save to apply your changes.

Changes to your inventory item do not automatically update existing listings on marketplaces. If you've already listed the item on Depop, eBay, or Vinted and want the changes reflected there, you'll need to update or re-create the listing.

Copying an Existing Item

If you're adding an item that's similar to one you've already saved — for example, the same shirt in a different size or colour — you can save time by copying an existing item:

  1. Go to the Items tab and find the item you want to copy.
  2. Tap the item to open its detail view.
  3. Tap the Copy option. This creates a new item pre-filled with all the details from the original.
  4. Modify the fields that are different (such as size, colour, or photos).
  5. Tap Add Item to save the copy as a new item in your inventory.

This is especially useful for sellers who stock multiple sizes or colourways of the same product.

Tips for Better Items

Here are some best practices for creating items that lead to faster sales:

  • Use all available photo slots. More photos give buyers more confidence. Show the item from multiple angles — front, back, close-up details, labels, and any flaws.
  • Write descriptive item names. Include the brand, item type, colour, size, and any notable features. Buyers often search by these terms.
  • Choose the most specific category. A shirt categorised as "Clothing > Tops > T-shirts" will appear in more relevant searches than one categorised simply as "Clothing".
  • Set the right brand. If your item is from a known brand, make sure to select it. Branded items get significantly more visibility on all marketplaces.
  • Price competitively. Check what similar items are selling for on each platform. You can always adjust prices per platform when creating listings.
  • Track your purchase price. Even if it feels tedious, entering what you paid for each item gives you invaluable profit data in Evriwhere's analytics dashboard.

You're ready to list
