Troubleshooting Common Errors

Fix the most frequent issues in Evriwhere

18 min read · Updated 2 March 2026

Errors happen — a flaky internet connection, an expired session, or a temporary platform outage can all trigger error messages in Evriwhere. This guide is a comprehensive reference for every common error you might encounter in the app, what it means, and exactly how to fix it. Errors are organised by category so you can quickly find the issue you're experiencing.

General Troubleshooting Steps

Before diving into specific errors, here are the universal steps that resolve the majority of issues in Evriwhere. Try these first for any error you encounter:

1

Force-quit and reopen the app

Swipe up from the bottom of your screen (or double-tap the home button on older iPhones) to open the app switcher. Swipe up on Evriwhere to close it completely, then reopen it from your home screen. This clears temporary state issues and re-establishes network connections.

2

Check your internet connection

Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or have a strong cellular signal. Try opening a webpage in Safari to confirm your internet is working. Evriwhere requires an active internet connection for almost all features.

3

Check for app updates

Open the App Store, tap your profile icon in the top right, and scroll down to see if an Evriwhere update is available. Outdated versions may have bugs that have since been fixed. Tap Update if one is available.

4

Restart your device

A full device restart can resolve issues with background processes, network stack, and iOS services that Evriwhere depends on. Hold the side button and volume button (or just the side button on older iPhones), then slide to power off. Wait 10 seconds, then turn the device back on.

5

Reinstall the app

As a last resort, delete Evriwhere from your device and reinstall it from the App Store. Your account data is stored on Evriwhere's servers, so you won't lose your items, listings, or connected accounts. You'll need to sign in again after reinstalling and may need to restore your subscription (see Managing Your Subscription).

Always check the basics first

The majority of errors in Evriwhere are caused by network issues or expired sessions. Before investigating a specific error in detail, quickly check your internet connection and try force-quitting the app. These two steps alone resolve most problems.

Network Errors

Network errors occur when Evriwhere can't communicate with its servers or the platform APIs (Depop, eBay, Vinted). These are the most common type of error in any internet-connected app.

Timeout Errors

What you see: The app shows a loading spinner for an extended period, followed by a timeout or failure message.

What it means: The request to Evriwhere's servers or a platform's API took too long to respond. This can happen due to slow internet, server congestion, or temporary platform issues.

How Evriwhere handles it: The app uses retry logic with exponential backoff — it automatically retries the failed request multiple times, waiting progressively longer between each attempt. For certain operations like fetching categories, the app retries up to 5 times before giving up and showing an error.

What to do:

  1. Check your internet connection — switch between Wi-Fi and cellular to see if one is more stable
  2. Wait a moment and try the action again — the server may have been temporarily overloaded
  3. If the error persists, try again later — the platform's servers may be experiencing downtime

"No Internet Connection"

What you see: A message or banner indicating there's no internet connection.

What it means: Your device has lost its network connection entirely — neither Wi-Fi nor cellular data is available, or the connection is too unstable to complete any requests.

What to do:

  1. Check your Wi-Fi settings — ensure you're connected to a network
  2. Check cellular data — ensure mobile data is enabled for Evriwhere in iPhone Settings > Cellular
  3. Toggle Airplane Mode on and off — this resets your device's network stack
  4. Move to an area with better signal strength
  5. Try again once your connection is restored

Generic Network Error with Retry

What you see: A generic error message with a Retry button.

What it means: A network request failed for an unspecified reason — could be a dropped connection, DNS failure, or server error.

What to do: Tap the Retry button. If the error occurs repeatedly, follow the general troubleshooting steps at the top of this guide.

Authentication Errors

Authentication errors occur when your session with Evriwhere's servers or a connected platform has expired, been revoked, or is invalid.

401 Unauthorized

What happens behind the scenes: When Evriwhere receives a 401 Unauthorized response from its server, it automatically attempts to refresh your authentication token. This happens silently in the background — you won't see anything unless the refresh fails.

If the token refresh succeeds: The original request is retried automatically, and you won't notice any interruption.

If the token refresh fails: You'll see an "Authentication expired" message or be prompted to sign in again. This means your session can't be renewed and you need to re-authenticate.

What to do:

  1. If prompted, tap Sign In and log in again using Sign In with Apple or Continue with Email
  2. If the error persists after signing in, try signing out completely (Settings > Sign Out) and signing back in
  3. As a last resort, reinstall the app and sign in fresh

Platform Session Expired

Individual platform sessions (Depop, eBay, Vinted) can expire independently from your Evriwhere account. See our Fixing Connection & Login Issues guide for platform-specific session errors.

Listing Errors

Listing errors occur when Evriwhere fails to create or update a listing on one or more platforms.

"Your Depop Account Needs Setting Up"

What you see: A sheet appears with the title "Your Depop Account Needs Setting Up" when you try to create a listing on Depop.

What it means: Your Depop account doesn't have Depop Payments configured, which is required for all Depop listings. Depop Payments is Depop's built-in payment processing system that handles buyer transactions.

What to do: Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Depop Payments. See our Setting Up Depop Payments guide for detailed steps.

"Your eBay Account Needs Setting Up"

What you see: A sheet appears with the title "Your eBay Account Needs Setting Up" when you try to create a listing on eBay.

What it means: Your eBay account isn't registered as a seller account. eBay requires a separate seller registration that includes setting up a payment method for seller fees and configuring shipping/returns defaults.

What to do: Follow the on-screen instructions to register as an eBay seller. See our Setting Up Your eBay Seller Account guide for detailed steps.

Per-Platform Listing Failure

What you see: After tapping the create listings button, one or more platforms show a "Failed" status with an error message specific to that platform.

What it means: The listing was successfully submitted to some platforms but failed on others. Each platform is independent — a failure on one doesn't affect the others.

What to do:

  1. Read the error message displayed for the failed platform — it usually indicates the specific cause
  2. Tap Retry on the failed platform to attempt the listing again
  3. If the error mentions a missing field, go back and fill in the required information
  4. If the error mentions a session issue, go to Settings and tap the affected platform to reconnect

Check before retrying

Before tapping Retry on a failed listing, check the platform's app or website to make sure the listing didn't actually go through. Occasionally, a listing may succeed on the platform's end but the confirmation fails to reach Evriwhere. Creating a duplicate listing can violate platform policies.

Photo Limit Errors

What it means: You've exceeded the photo limit for your listing. Evriwhere supports up to 9 photos when Depop is connected (Depop's limit) or 16 photos otherwise. A minimum of 3 photos is required.

What to do: Remove extra photos or add more photos until you meet the minimum. If Depop is one of your connected platforms, the 9-photo limit applies across all platforms for that item.

"The selected plan is not available at the moment."

What you see: This error appears when trying to access a feature that requires a specific subscription plan.

What it means: The app couldn't verify your subscription status or the feature you're trying to use requires a plan that isn't currently available for purchase.

What to do: Go to Settings > Your Plan and verify your subscription is active. If it's not, subscribe or restore your purchase. See Managing Your Subscription.

Subscription and Paywall Errors

These errors appear on the paywall/plan management screen when something goes wrong with loading or purchasing subscription plans.

Plan Availability Errors

| Error Message | What It Means | |---|---| | "Starter plan not available. Please try again later." | The Starter plan (£2.99/week) couldn't be loaded from the App Store. This is usually a temporary issue with Apple's servers or your network connection. | | "Reseller plan not available. Please try again later." | The Reseller plan (£9.99/month) couldn't be loaded. Same causes as above. | | "Business plan not available. Please try again later." | The Business plan (£29.99/month) couldn't be loaded. Same causes as above. | | "No plans available. Please try again later." | None of the three subscription plans could be fetched. This typically indicates a server-side issue. | | "Plans not loaded. Please try again." | The plan data hasn't been fetched from the server yet. The paywall opened before the plans finished loading. | | "Unable to load plans. Please try again." | A network or server error prevented the plans from loading entirely. |

What to do for all plan availability errors:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Close the paywall screen and reopen it from Settings > Your Plan
  3. Force-quit the app and reopen it
  4. Wait a few minutes — Apple's servers may be experiencing temporary issues
  5. Ensure your App Store is working by trying to download or update any free app

Restore Errors

| Error Message | What It Means | |---|---| | "No purchases to restore." | Apple's servers found no active Evriwhere subscriptions tied to your Apple ID. Your previous subscription has expired or was cancelled. | | "No Business subscription to restore." | A subscription was found on your Apple ID, but it doesn't match the Business tier specifically. |

What to do:

  1. Verify you're signed into the correct Apple ID — the one you originally purchased the subscription with
  2. Check your subscription status in iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Evriwhere
  3. If your subscription genuinely expired, you'll need to subscribe again

RevenueCat SDK Errors

Occasionally, errors from the underlying subscription management system (RevenueCat) may surface. These are typically displayed as technical error messages that aren't user-friendly.

What to do: These errors are almost always temporary. Force-quit the app, wait a minute, and try again. If the error persists, contact support with a screenshot of the error message.

Camera Errors

"Camera Access Required"

What you see: An alert appears with the title "Camera Access Required" and the message "Please enable camera access in Settings to take photos."

What it means: Evriwhere needs permission to access your device's camera to take photos of items, but you've either denied the permission or haven't granted it yet.

What to do: The alert presents two buttons:

  • Open Settings — Tapping this takes you directly to Evriwhere's entry in your iPhone's Settings app, where you can toggle on camera access.
  • Cancel — Dismisses the alert without making changes. You won't be able to take photos until you grant permission.
1

Tap Open Settings

When the camera access alert appears, tap Open Settings.

2

Enable Camera access

You'll be taken to Evriwhere's settings page in the iPhone Settings app. Find the Camera toggle and switch it on (green).

3

Return to Evriwhere

Tap the back arrow or swipe back to return to Evriwhere. The camera should now work. You may need to re-trigger the camera action (e.g. tap the camera button again) for the permission change to take effect.

Force Update Screen

"Update Required"

What you see: A full-screen overlay appears with the title "Update Required". It displays your current app version number and a single button: "Update Now".

What it means: You're running an outdated version of Evriwhere that is no longer supported. This mandatory update screen is triggered when the Evriwhere team pushes a critical update that all users must install — usually for security fixes, breaking API changes, or important bug fixes.

Critical details about this screen:

  • You cannot dismiss it. There is no close button, no "skip" option, and no way to get past this screen without updating.
  • You cannot use any part of the app until you update. The force update screen blocks all interaction with Evriwhere.
  • The only action available is tapping "Update Now", which opens the Evriwhere page in the App Store where you can download the latest version.

What to do:

  1. Tap Update Now
  2. The App Store opens to Evriwhere's listing
  3. Tap Update in the App Store to download and install the latest version
  4. Once the update is installed, reopen Evriwhere — the force update screen will be gone and you can use the app normally

Keep auto-updates enabled

To avoid being blocked by the force update screen, enable automatic app updates on your iPhone. Go to iPhone Settings > App Store > App Updates and toggle it on. This ensures you always have the latest version of Evriwhere without needing to update manually.

Apple Sign In Errors

These errors occur during the sign-in process when using Sign In with Apple to create or access your Evriwhere account.

"Canceled"

What it means: You cancelled the Sign In with Apple flow before completing it — either by tapping Cancel on the Apple Sign In sheet or by dismissing it.

What to do: This isn't really an error. If you want to sign in, try again and complete the full Apple Sign In flow. If you cancelled intentionally, no action is needed.

"Failed"

What it means: The Apple Sign In process failed due to a system-level issue. This can happen if Apple's authentication servers are temporarily unavailable or if there's a network interruption during the sign-in flow.

What to do:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Try signing in again
  3. Restart your device if the error persists
  4. Check Apple's System Status page to see if Apple Sign In services are experiencing an outage

"Invalid Response"

What it means: Evriwhere received an invalid or unexpected response from Apple's authentication service. The data returned during sign-in didn't match what was expected.

What to do:

  1. Try signing in again — this is often a one-time glitch
  2. Restart your device
  3. Ensure your device is running a supported version of iOS
  4. If the error persists, contact Evriwhere support with details about your device and iOS version

"Not Handled"

What it means: The authorization response from Apple wasn't handled by the app's sign-in logic. This is a rare edge case that shouldn't normally occur.

What to do: Force-quit Evriwhere, reopen it, and try signing in again. If the error repeats, contact support.

"Not Interactive"

What it means: The Apple Sign In process was triggered while the app was not in an interactive state — for example, if the sign-in was attempted while the app was in the background or during a transition.

What to do: Make sure Evriwhere is fully open and in the foreground before attempting to sign in. Tap the Sign In button again once the app is ready.

"Unknown"

What it means: An unidentified error occurred during Apple Sign In. The system couldn't categorise the failure.

What to do:

  1. Try signing in again
  2. Restart your device
  3. Check your internet connection
  4. Update to the latest version of iOS and Evriwhere
  5. If the error persists, contact support with a screenshot

Background Removal Errors

These errors occur when using Evriwhere's background removal feature (Remove BG) for item photos.

"Could not process the image"

What it means: The background removal system was unable to process the selected image at all. The image may be corrupted, in an unsupported format, or too large for the processing pipeline.

What to do:

  1. Try with a different photo
  2. Ensure the image is a standard format (JPEG, PNG, HEIC)
  3. If the image is extremely high resolution, try taking a new photo with standard camera settings

"No foreground subject detected in the image"

What it means: The background removal algorithm couldn't identify a clear foreground subject (your item) in the photo. This typically happens with photos that have:

  • Very low contrast between the item and background
  • Multiple items in the frame with no clear focal point
  • Extremely busy or cluttered backgrounds
  • Very small items that don't dominate the frame

What to do:

  1. Retake the photo with better contrast — place the item on a plain, contrasting background
  2. Ensure the item is centred and fills most of the frame
  3. Use good lighting to create clear edges around the item
  4. Remove clutter from the background before photographing

"Failed to apply background removal filter"

What it means: The foreground subject was detected successfully, but the filter to remove the background couldn't be applied. This is an internal processing error.

What to do:

  1. Try the background removal again on the same photo — it may work on a second attempt
  2. If the error repeats, try with a different photo of the same item
  3. Force-quit the app and try again

"Failed to render the final image"

What it means: The background was removed successfully, but the final composited image couldn't be rendered. This is typically a memory or rendering pipeline issue.

What to do:

  1. Close other apps to free up device memory
  2. Restart the app and try again
  3. If the image is very high resolution, try with a lower-resolution photo

Image Enhancement Errors

These errors occur when using Evriwhere's Enhance tool for item photos.

"Could not process the image"

What it means: The image enhancement system couldn't process the selected photo. Same causes as the background removal version of this error — corrupted file, unsupported format, or processing pipeline issue.

What to do: Try a different photo, or retake the photo and try again.

"Failed to render the enhanced image"

What it means: The enhancement was calculated but the final enhanced image couldn't be rendered. This is an internal rendering issue.

What to do: Close other apps, restart Evriwhere, and try again. If the error persists with a specific image, try enhancing a different photo to determine if the issue is image-specific or app-wide.

AI Description Errors

Save Errors

What you see: When saving your custom AI description prompt in Settings > General > AI Description, an alert may appear displaying a technical error message.

What it means: The app couldn't save your custom prompt to the server. This is typically a network issue.

What to do:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Try saving again
  3. If the error message is unclear, take a screenshot and contact support
