Setting Up Depop Payments
Complete Depop's payment setup to list items through Evriwhere
11 min read · Updated 2 March 2026
If you've connected your Depop account to Evriwhere but see a screen titled "Your Depop Account Needs Setting Up" when you try to list an item, it means Depop's payment system hasn't been fully configured on your account. This is a requirement from Depop — not Evriwhere — and it needs to be completed in the Depop app before you can sell through any platform.
This guide walks you through every step of the Depop Payments setup process so you can get back to listing as quickly as possible.
Why This Happens
This is a Depop requirement, not an Evriwhere issue
Depop requires all sellers to complete their payment setup before they can list items for sale. This includes providing personal details, connecting a bank account, and verifying your identity. Until this is done, neither the Depop app nor Evriwhere can create listings on your behalf.
Depop's payment setup ensures that:
- You can receive payments from buyers
- Depop can process transactions securely
- Your identity is verified for fraud prevention
- You have a bank account connected for payouts
If you've never sold on Depop before, or if you created your account recently, it's very likely that this setup hasn't been completed yet. Even if you've used Depop for a while, Depop occasionally updates their requirements and may ask existing sellers to complete additional verification steps.
When You'll See This Screen
The "Your Depop Account Needs Setting Up" sheet appears in Evriwhere when:
- You try to create a listing that includes Depop as a target platform
- You try to crosslist an existing item to Depop
- Evriwhere detects that your Depop account doesn't have the necessary payment configuration
The sheet displays inside Evriwhere and provides step-by-step instructions for completing the setup in the Depop app. It cannot be completed within Evriwhere — you'll need to switch to the official Depop app.
What You'll Need
Before starting, make sure you have:
- The Depop app installed on your iPhone (download from the App Store if needed)
- Your Depop account logged in within the Depop app
- Personal identification — Depop may ask for a photo ID or other verification documents
- Bank account details — You'll need to provide bank account information to receive payouts
- A few minutes — The setup process typically takes 5-10 minutes, though identity verification may take longer
Setting Up Depop Payments Step by Step
Follow these steps carefully in the Depop app (not Evriwhere):
Open the Depop App
Leave Evriwhere and open the Depop app on your iPhone. If you don't have it installed, download it from the App Store first. Make sure you're logged in to the same Depop account that you connected to Evriwhere.
If you're not sure which account is connected, check Evriwhere's Settings > Linked Accounts — the Depop card shows the username of your connected account.
Go to My Depop
In the Depop app, tap "My Depop" in the bottom navigation bar. This is typically the rightmost icon in Depop's tab bar, represented by a person/profile icon.
This takes you to your Depop profile page, where you can see your shop, listings, and account settings.
Open the Menu
On the My Depop page, tap the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu icon) in the top right corner of the screen. This opens the Depop settings and options menu.
The menu contains various account management options, including the selling setup flow you need to complete.
Start Selling on Depop
In the menu, find and tap "Start selling on Depop". This launches Depop's seller onboarding flow.
You'll be asked to provide your personal details, which may include:
- Full legal name — As it appears on your ID
- Date of birth — For age verification
- Address — Your current residential address
- Phone number — For account verification
- Tax information — Depending on your region, Depop may collect tax-related details
Fill in all required fields accurately and completely. Depop uses this information for payment processing and regulatory compliance.
Tap Continue or Next after completing each section to progress through the onboarding flow.
Go Back to My Depop
After completing the initial selling setup, navigate back to the My Depop page. You can do this by tapping the "My Depop" tab in the bottom navigation bar again.
You should now see some new options or prompts on your profile page related to completing your seller setup.
Complete Your To-Do List
On the My Depop page, look for and tap "Depop Balance". This will show you a to-do list of remaining items you need to complete before you can start selling.
The to-do list may include items such as:
- Verify your email — Confirm your email address if you haven't already
- Add a payment method — Set up how you'll receive money from sales
- Complete identity verification — Provide additional proof of identity
- Accept seller terms — Review and accept Depop's seller terms and conditions
- Set up shipping — Configure your shipping preferences
Work through each item in the to-do list, completing them one by one. Tap on each task to see what's required and follow the on-screen instructions.
Verify Your Details
The final and most important step is connecting your bank account and verifying your identity. This is what allows Depop to pay you when you make sales.
Connecting your bank account:
- Tap the bank account or payout option in your to-do list
- Enter your sort code and account number (UK) or equivalent banking details for your region
- Confirm the details are correct
- Depop may make a small test deposit to verify the account
Verifying your identity:
- Depop may ask you to upload a photo of a government-issued ID (passport, driving licence, etc.)
- You may also be asked to take a selfie for facial verification
- Follow the on-screen instructions carefully — make sure photos are clear and well-lit
- Identity verification can take minutes to a few hours depending on Depop's processing time
Once all to-do items are completed and your identity is verified, your Depop Payments setup is finished.
Returning to Evriwhere
Important: Re-post your listing
After completing setup in the Depop app, return to Evriwhere. You'll need to delete the listing that triggered the setup screen (tap the Depop box to remove it) and post it again. This ensures Evriwhere creates the listing with your now-active Depop Payments.
Here's what to do after completing the Depop Payments setup:
- Switch back to Evriwhere — Open the Evriwhere app
- Find the listing that triggered the "Your Depop Account Needs Setting Up" sheet
- Remove the Depop listing — Tap the Depop box or icon on the listing to remove the failed Depop posting
- Re-post to Depop — Add Depop back as a target platform and post the listing again
- Verify success — The listing should now go through to Depop without any setup prompts
Troubleshooting
The setup sheet keeps appearing after completing Depop Payments
If you've completed the Depop Payments setup but still see the "Your Depop Account Needs Setting Up" screen:
- Double-check all to-do items — Go back to the Depop app and make sure every item in your Depop Balance to-do list is marked as complete
- Wait for identity verification — If you submitted ID verification, it may take some time to process. Check back in a few hours
- Reconnect your Depop account — In Evriwhere, go to Settings > Depop > Remove Account, then reconnect from Settings > Linked Accounts. This refreshes the connection and pulls your updated seller status
- Delete and re-post the listing — Make sure you've removed the old Depop listing and created a new one, as described above
I can't find "Start selling on Depop" in the menu
Depop occasionally updates their app interface. If you can't find the exact option mentioned:
- Look for similar options — It may be labelled "Become a seller", "Set up selling", or similar
- Check the main profile page — Depop may show a banner or prompt on your profile page about setting up selling
- Update the Depop app — Make sure you have the latest version of Depop installed
- Search Depop's help centre — Search for "Depop Payments setup" in Depop's official help documentation
I can't find "Depop Balance" on My Depop
If you don't see the Depop Balance option:
- Complete Step 4 first — You need to go through "Start selling on Depop" before the Balance option appears
- Scroll down — The option may be further down the My Depop page
- Update the Depop app — The interface may have changed in a newer version
- Try the Settings menu — Look under Settings or Account for balance/payout options
Bank account verification failed
If Depop can't verify your bank account:
- Double-check your details — Make sure the sort code and account number are correct
- Ensure the account is in your name — Depop requires the bank account to match the name on your Depop account
- Try a different account — If one bank account doesn't work, try another
- Contact Depop support — Bank verification issues need to be resolved directly with Depop
Identity verification is taking too long
Depop's identity verification is handled by a third-party provider and is outside of Evriwhere's control.
- Normal processing time — Most verifications complete within minutes, but some can take up to 48 hours
- Check your email — Depop may email you if there's an issue with your verification
- Resubmit if needed — If verification fails, you may need to resubmit your documents with clearer photos
- Contact Depop — If it's been more than 48 hours, contact Depop's support team directly
Evriwhere cannot speed up Depop's verification
Depop Payments and identity verification are handled entirely by Depop. Evriwhere has no control over the verification process or timeline. If you're experiencing issues, you'll need to contact Depop's support team directly through the Depop app or website.
Common Questions
Why can't Evriwhere set up Depop Payments for me?
Depop Payments involves providing sensitive personal information — your legal name, ID documents, bank account details, and more. For security and privacy reasons, this must be done directly in the Depop app where Depop can securely handle your data. Evriwhere doesn't collect or store any of this information.
Do I need to do this for every listing?
No. Once Depop Payments is set up, it's a one-time process. All future listings to Depop — whether created in Evriwhere or the Depop app — will work without needing to repeat the setup.
I already sell on Depop. Why am I seeing this?
If you've been selling on Depop and suddenly see this screen, it may be because:
- Depop updated their requirements — Depop occasionally requires additional verification from existing sellers
- Your payment details expired — Your connected bank account or payment method may need updating
- Account restrictions — Your Depop account may have a temporary restriction that requires action
- Connection issue — Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Depop account in Evriwhere
Can I skip Depop and just list on eBay and Vinted?
Yes. If you don't want to set up Depop Payments right now, you can simply deselect Depop when creating a listing in Evriwhere. Your items will be posted to eBay and Vinted only. You can add Depop listings later once Depop Payments is set up.
Summary
Setting up Depop Payments is a one-time process that you complete in the Depop app. Here's the quick version:
- Open the Depop app and go to My Depop
- Tap the three lines menu in the top right
- Tap "Start selling on Depop" and fill in your details
- Go back to My Depop and tap "Depop Balance"
- Complete every item in your to-do list
- Connect your bank account and verify your identity
- Return to Evriwhere, delete the old listing, and post it again
Once done, you'll never see the setup screen again, and all future Depop listings will work seamlessly through Evriwhere.
