Saving & Using Drafts
Save unfinished items and come back to them later
10 min read · Updated 2 March 2026
Not every item gets finished in one sitting. Maybe you started adding photos but got interrupted by a phone call. Maybe you wanted to look up the brand or check the size label before completing the listing. Maybe you're photographing a batch of items and want to save partial entries as you go. Whatever the reason, Evriwhere's drafts system ensures you never lose your progress. This guide explains exactly how drafts work, where to find them, and how to manage them.
How Drafts Work
Drafts in Evriwhere apply to the Add Item flow (and the Copy Item flow). When you're creating a new item or copying an existing one, the draft system protects your progress.
When Drafts Are Saved
A draft is created or updated in two situations:
- The app goes to the background — If you press the Home button, switch to another app, or lock your phone while on the Add Item screen, the draft is saved automatically. This protects against app crashes or unexpected interruptions.
- You dismiss the Add Item screen — When you tap the close button to leave the screen, a "Save Draft?" dialog appears with three options:
- Cancel — Go back to the Add Item screen and continue editing.
- Save Draft — Save your progress as a draft and close the screen.
- Discard — Close the screen without saving.
Auto-save vs. manual save
The auto-save (when the app backgrounds) keeps only one auto-save at a time — each new auto-save replaces the previous one. Manual saves via the "Save Draft?" dialog create separate draft entries. You can have up to 20 drafts total; the oldest drafts are automatically removed when you exceed this limit.
What About Edit Mode?
Drafts only apply when you're adding or copying an item. When you're editing an existing item, the draft system doesn't activate. Instead, if you try to dismiss the Edit Item screen with unsaved changes, you'll see a "Discard Changes?" dialog with Cancel and Discard options.
What's Saved in a Draft
The following fields are preserved in the draft. When you resume editing, everything is exactly where you left it:
| Field | Saved in Draft | |---|---| | Photos | Yes — stored as image IDs (uploaded to the server) | | Item Name | Yes | | Item Type | Yes (Clothing, Footwear, or Other) | | Gender | Yes (Male, Female, Kids, or Unisex) | | Condition | Yes (New with tags, New no tags, Like New, Good, Used, or Poor) | | Category | Yes | | Size | Yes | | Brand | Yes (including custom brand names) | | Colours | Yes — all selected colour attributes | | Price Paid | Yes | | Quantity | Yes |
Photos are safely stored on the server
Draft photos are uploaded to the server and stored as image IDs, not as references to your device's photo library. This means your draft photos are preserved even if you delete the originals from your camera roll.
Finding Your Drafts
Drafts are accessible from the Add Item screen, not from the main Items tab.
Accessing the Drafts List
- Tap the + button on the Items tab to open the Add Item screen.
- Look for the Drafts button. This opens the Drafts List view as a sheet.
The Drafts List View
The Drafts List view shows all your saved drafts in a scrollable list. The navigation title is "Drafts", with a "Done" button at the top-left and a "Clear All" button (in red) at the top-right.
Each draft entry displays:
- Thumbnail — The first photo from the draft (loaded from the server). If no photos were added, a placeholder is shown.
- Preview summary — A text summary of the draft's details.
- Auto-saved badge — An orange badge that appears on drafts that were auto-saved (when the app went to the background) as opposed to manually saved.
- Relative timestamp — When the draft was last saved (e.g., "2 hours ago", "Yesterday").
- Detail chips — Up to 3 small chips showing key details like image count, category, and condition.
- Chevron — Indicating you can tap to open the draft.
Drafts are sorted by most recently saved, so the draft you were just working on appears at the top.
If you have no drafts, the list shows an empty state: "No Drafts" with explanatory text about how drafts are created.
Name your drafts
Even if you haven't filled in all the details yet, giving your draft an item name (even a quick one like "Red Nike Dunks" or "Floral Dress") makes it much easier to find later in the Drafts List. A descriptive name takes only a few seconds and saves you from opening each draft to figure out which item it is.
Resuming a Draft
Picking up where you left off is straightforward:
Open the Drafts List
Tap the + button on the Items tab, then tap the Drafts button to see all your saved drafts.
Tap the draft you want to resume
Find the draft you want to continue editing and tap on it. The Add Item screen opens with all your previously entered data restored — every photo, every text field, every selection is exactly where you left it.
Continue editing
Pick up right where you stopped. Add more photos, fill in missing fields, set the price — whatever you still need to do.
Finish and save the item
Once all required fields are complete, tap Save to create the item in your inventory. The draft is automatically deleted once the item is successfully saved — it's promoted from a draft to a full inventory item.
From there, you can proceed to create listings on Depop, eBay, and Vinted.
Deleting Drafts
If you no longer need a draft — maybe you decided not to sell the item, or you created a duplicate by mistake — you can delete it from the Drafts List.
Deleting a Single Draft
- Open the Drafts List from the Add Item screen.
- Find the draft you want to remove.
- Swipe left on the draft entry to reveal the delete option.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
The draft is permanently removed.
Clearing All Drafts
If you want to remove all drafts at once, tap the "Clear All" button (red text) at the top-right of the Drafts List. A confirmation dialog asks "Are you sure you want to delete all drafts?" — tap to confirm and all drafts will be permanently deleted.
Deletion is permanent
Deleted drafts cannot be recovered. If you're unsure whether you'll need a draft later, consider leaving it in the list rather than deleting it.
Draft Limits
- Maximum 20 drafts — You can have up to 20 drafts saved at any time. When you exceed this limit, the oldest draft is automatically removed to make room for the new one.
- Drafts do not count toward your subscription plan's item limit — Your item limit only applies to fully saved items in your inventory, not drafts.
- Drafts are stored locally — Draft data is saved on your device (in UserDefaults). They persist across app restarts but are tied to the device they were created on.
Drafts don't count against your plan
No matter how many drafts you save (up to 20), they don't count toward your item limit. Prepare as many as you need — only completed, saved items count against your plan's allocation.
Common Draft Workflows
The Photography Batch Workflow
This is one of the most popular ways to use drafts:
- Set up your photography area with good lighting.
- For each item, take all your photos.
- Open Evriwhere, tap + to start a new item, add the photos, and type a quick item name.
- Tap the close button and select "Save Draft" from the dialog.
- Repeat for every item in your batch.
- Later (maybe that evening, or the next day), open the Drafts List and work through each one, filling in categories, brands, sizes, and prices at your leisure.
This workflow separates the physical task (photography) from the data entry task (filling in listing details), making each step more focused and efficient.
The Research-Later Workflow
Sometimes you find an item worth selling but don't know enough about it to fill in all the details:
- Start a new item and add photos.
- Enter what you know — maybe just the item name and a rough price.
- Save as a draft.
- Later, research the brand, check comparable listings on each platform, look up the original retail price.
- Open the draft, fill in the details with your research, and save the completed item.
The Interrupted Workflow
Life happens. You're halfway through adding an item when someone calls, your dog needs walking, or you simply run out of time:
- Just leave the app. The auto-save triggers when the app goes to the background, capturing everything you've entered so far.
- When you're ready, open Evriwhere, tap +, open Drafts, and tap your draft.
- Everything is exactly where you left it. Continue from where you stopped.
Troubleshooting
My draft is missing
If you can't find a previously saved draft:
- Check the Drafts List carefully — Scroll through the full list. If you didn't add a name or photos, the draft may be hard to identify visually.
- Check if you already saved the item — If you completed and saved the item, the draft was automatically deleted and the item now appears in your regular inventory.
- Check the draft limit — If you had 20 drafts and saved more, the oldest drafts may have been automatically removed.
- App updates — In rare cases, a major app update may affect locally stored data. Make sure you're running the latest version of Evriwhere.
Draft won't restore properly
If a draft opens but some fields appear empty or incorrect:
- Close and reopen — Navigate away from the draft and tap it again in the Drafts List.
- Check for app updates — Running an older version of Evriwhere may cause compatibility issues with drafts created in a newer version (or vice versa).
- Re-enter the missing data — If only a few fields are affected, simply fill them back in.
I want to duplicate a draft
Evriwhere doesn't currently support duplicating drafts directly. If you have similar items that share most details:
- Complete and save the first draft as a full item.
- Use the Copy Item flow (from the item's detail view) to create a copy with all the same details.
- Update any unique details (photos, size, colour, price) for the new item.
